Entertaining and Educational Story Concerts
Here is a short list of the types of storytelling concerts (events) I offer. I can also tailor stories to fit your curriculum or needs.
Once Upon a Country: Fun folktales from America, England, France, Germany, Africa or even Florida.You pick your favorite.
Just So Wild: Fun animal, frog or critter stories. Magic scissors and puppets are used to teach facts about the subject.
Teaching Tales: Honesty, Self-Worth, Bully Bye-bye, Stranger Danger, etc.
Holiday Happenings: Winter tales, Christmas stories, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Black History Month and more.
Dark of Night: Stories that make you jump and some that will chill your bones. There is nothing like a good spooky story and we don't even need a fire to get you there.
Election Connection: Learn about the election process through story and song. Great when it is an election year.
Summer Days: Fun summertime stories and activities. Great for your summer program needs. Reading Rocks You: Music, Stories, Multi-media presentation which shows the audience the fun of reading.
Knightly Tales: Stories and songs from time of knights, damsels, and dragons roamed the earth.
No More Bullies: Not every story is about mean kids sometimes they are about how they bullies are created. Original story of "The Truth about Little Bunny Fru-Fru,"
Hard-Knock Life: For teens and adults stories that look at the harder side of life and learning to cope.

E.O.L.A. - Enhanced Oral Language Arts - this workshop teaches teachers how to be more effective in reading stories in their classrooms; effective listening skills; and expanding creativity. Excuse Me - Effective listening or how to make sure you are being heard.
Puppet Playhouse - Making and using puppets in the classroom Say Me a Say, Play Me a Play - A class in creative dramatics or how to get your kids to really act out.
Summer Days: Student storytelling workshops. Great for your summer program needs.
The Making Of ... I take the audience through the process of writing (stories created on the spot), illustrating (live drawings) and getting the book into print. This is an introductory course.
Put it in Ink! Discover what it takes from start to finish to produce a book. This project can be scaled for any age or group. This program is also available as a six week course which will end with a printed anthology. Can also be done as a school residency.
Vocal Pyrotechnics® - How to put pizazz into your reading or speeches by using the power of your voice.
Being a Cut-Up At Any Age: Learn the ancient art of papercutting. I will teach you how to use your own magic scissors to take ordinary paper and turn it into art. This workshop can be geared from first grade to adults. Based on our book series With Magic Scissors. Then learn how to use the paper-cutting to tell a story.

Alliteration Adventure

Alliteration Adventure is just that — an adventure in all the places that alliteration show-up. Tongue twisters are alliterations stacked close together and here you will find a variety of them, from short to long ones. Alliterations are found in so many different places and we will search them out and bring you poems, excerpts from literature, and quotes that will twist your mind and your tongue. All done in the name of fun!

Famous American Folktales and Stories - If you are looking for good old fashioned American yarns then you will 68 tales indexed by title, state, region, characters, historical or ethnic nature, weather-lore or tall tale.
YES-Youth, Educators and Storytellers Alliance - A great resource for those working with children. SurLaLune Fairy Tales features 49 annotated fairy tales, including their histories, similar tales across cultures, modern interpretations and over 1,500 illustrations. Also discover over 1,600 folktales & fairy tales from around the world in more than 40 full-text Books.
StoryArts Online - Heather Forest's site for teachers, librarians, and students explores the use of storytelling in the classroom to enhance speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. With lesson plans, activities, articles, bibliographies, a library of stories, and a free occasional newsletter.
Brothers Grimm Pathfinder - The purpose of this Pathfinder is to provide teachers with resources and tools to teach about Grimm Fairy Tales. These resources are intended for teachers in upper middle school and lower high school (Grades 7-12). On this site you will find information on the original fairy tales, adaptations of Grim tales, lesson plans and activities, and information on the Grimm brothers themselves. The Pathfinder is designed to provide teachers with easy access to teaching tools to assist in the creation of thematic units that spread over several departments or disciplines.
Pizzaz - A site dedicated to providing simple creative writing and oral storytelling activities with copyable handouts. See Story Boxes, and Basket Cases in the Fiction section for simple but effective oral storytelling games. Some of the writing games could be adapted for oral telling.
The Art of the Story-teller - Marie Shedlock - The full text of this 1915 classic book by Marie Shedlock is online here. The chapters are the Difficulties of the Story; The Essentials of the Story; The Artifices of Story-Telling; Elements to Avoid in Selection of Material; Elements to Seek in the Choice of Material; How to Obtain and Maintain the Effect of the Story; Questions Asked by Teachers. Then the second half of the book contains 18 stories, and a bibliography of further reading, with live weblinks to online story versions. Eldrbarry's Story Telling Page - A major resource, by Barry McWilliams. Pages on favorite stories and their background, a Raven resource, profiles of favorite story authors and illustrators, helps on finding, selecting and learning stories; a manual of effective storytelling, links to other sites with help on techniques, online story resources; and tips on Bible stories. Plus over forty tales to read and use.
National Storytelling Festival - One of the largest storytelling festivals in the US. The home of the rebirth of storytelling arrives first weekend of October in Jonesborough, Tennessee.
